fun or depressing?

You know, I play that stupid WII and do the training on it and when Im doing it I feel like Im not doing to bad. I kind of get my hopes up that at the end it will say that I am in my 20's.

Nope, not for me, I think the thing must be broken or something. Once again, I tried to play it over the weekend and I ended up with an age of 46! It is kind of wierd, but after playing I actually started feeling depressed. Don't ask me why, but I really was giving it all I had and when that number came up it just crushed me. And the thing is, the person I was playing with isn't exactly athletic and he gets a score of 34!!

I know with this surgery that you lose muscle so I contribute that to not having the power behind hitting or throwing. However, I feel like this game not only takes the strength out of you but also your spirit. I almost wonder if I should quit playing it just to keep from becoming depressed. Is it just me or do others feel like this too?

Meeting someone online

I love to try and figure out a person by their behaviors. So, last night I received an I'M from some random person. I go to check the profile on it and the only pic on there is of about $10,000.00 cash and his screename is richhandsome something...so, I think to myself, this guy is either full of crap and just trying to play games. Married and looking to have a fling and thinks saying he has money will find him a little hottie to play with. Or, he is rich but ugly and can't get a date so he has to use money to get any sort of attention from a female.

So, I told him that I thought he was one of the three and of course he said I was totally wrong. However, by the end of our conversation, he ended up being married (which he originally stated he wasn't) and was wanting to find a girlfriend.

I think its interesting how you can figure out a person by their actions...so try to be more perceptive to the things people do around you. You may be amazed by what you can figure out.

The nasty bug!

I swear, if it isn't one thing, it's another. Two weeks ago I had my tooth pulled and had to deal with an infection from that. Taking antibiotics for a week and still feeling pain. Then last weekend I was at a friends house and he came up with this concoction to fix my tooth...and it worked! I have been pain free ever since! However, a day after fixing me, I ended up with a touch of the flu. Tired, aching, nausea feeling...its freaking miserable! I've been going to work but either going in late or leaving early.

I'm just anxious for next week to come. I am taking a couple of days and going away with a friend of mine. She told me yesterday to get over this because we are going away whether Im up for it or not! Besides, I need the break for a day or two. Yeah, its that time of the year. I like to travel and with the new job my boss lets me take a couple days here and there since I work a lot. So I will head to a beach next week for a couple of days to celebrate a friends 21st Bday...then I think I will be in Boston for a few days in May and I then off to either NYC or NC with another girlfriend enjoying a weekend at a spa....so I am definitely looking forward to the next couple of months.

Any suggestions of some fun places to visit? Comment and let me know, maybe I/we will make it out that way!

Ok, so people ask me for pictures and can't seem to find the ones I have already posted. So, as I get new ones, Im going to post them under this section of my blog.

Dental update

Ok, so Sunday I called Dr. Paul and he had told me just to take some pain meds..it was normal what I was going through...NOT!! By yesturday afternoon the pain was still there and there is now stuff coming out of where the tooth was..and it smells awful....so I called my friend that works at the dentist office and she told me it was infected....great, just what I need! So it is now 4 days after having it pulled and I am still in pain..having to deal with it being infected and still having to take pain meds for it....can you see now why I can't stand going to the dentist...this is the luck I have with them. Even though he is a really nice guy, I just seem to go through crap with them every time I go...thats it..no more! Im boycotting  dentists!!

I made it to 36!

Last week I had written about how awful I do with the training portion of the WII and how I am as fit as a 70 year old according to this silly game...well, I didn't get to play with my friend Laura last week as planned. It snowed and she had to get home. But early in the evening I get her phone call...when I answered all I heard was, Im 30, Im 30, Im 30! I was like, who the heck is this...it was her...bragging about how young she was. Well, the heck with that...so I went home and thought, I am not going to let her beat me....so I played and I think I was in the 50's.

The next day I played, I got down to 36! I was so excited.....then I played again and got to 45....hey, at least Im not still 70. But I swear it doesn't seem that difficult and I don't understand why everyone around me seems to get 20s and 30s and Im like an old geezer...what is up with that? Any tips on how to beat this thing??? I am on a mission and I have to get below 30 to beat her:)

Prep: 25 minutes
Chill: 2 hours
Bake: 8 minutes

Ingredients

• 3/4 cup butter (1-1/2 sticks)
• 2/3 cup sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 egg
• 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract or vanilla
• Few drops green food coloring
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• Green colored sugar

Directions

1. In a large mixer bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until softened (about 30 seconds). Add sugar and salt and beat until fluffy.

2. Add the egg, peppermint extract or vanilla, and a few drops of green food coloring. Beat mixture well.

3. With mixer on low speed gradually add flour to butter mixture and beat well.

4. Divide dough into 3 equal parts. Shape each part into a roll about 1 inch thick and about 8 inches long. Roll each in green colored sugar. Wrap rolls in plastic wrap. Chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours or up to 1 week.

5. Unwrap rolls. Slice crosswise so the slices are 1/4 inch thick. To shape each shamrock, place 3 slices of dough with sides touching in a shamrock shape on an ungreased cookie sheet. Cut a stem from a fourth slice and attach to the shamrock (save the rest of this slice for cutting other shamrock stems). Gently push the slices together so each leaflet curves in slightly.

6. Bake in a 350 degree F oven about 8 minutes or until edges are light brown. With a pancake turner lift the cookies onto a cooling rack to cool. Makes 32 cookies.

Make-Ahead Tip: Store the baked cookies in a tightly covered container at room temperature up to 3 days. Or, store the baked cookies in a freezer container in the freezer up to 2 weeks.

• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 cup butter, melted
• 1 egg
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup milk
• 1/4 cup butter, melted
• 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
• 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1-1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
• Walnut halves (optional)

Directions

1. For bottom layer, stir together oats, the 1/2 cup flour, the brown sugar, and baking soda. Stir in the 1/2 cup melted butter. Pat mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 11x7x1-1/2-inch baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree F. oven for 10 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, for middle layer, stir together egg, granulated sugar, the 2/3 cup flour, the milk, the 1/4 cup melted butter, 1 ounce melted chocolate, the 1 teaspoon vanilla, and the baking powder until smooth. Fold in chopped walnuts. Spread batter over baked layer in pan. Bake about 25 minutes more or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Set on a wire rack while preparing top layer.

3. For top layer, in a medium saucepan heat and stir 1 ounce chocolate and the 2 tablespoons butter until melted. Stir in the powdered sugar and the 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in enough hot water (1 to 2 tablespoons) to make a mixture that is almost pourable. Spread over brownies. If desired, garnish with walnut halves. Cool completely on wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes 32 brownies.

Make-Ahead Tip: Prepare and bake brownies as directed. Frost and cool. Cover and store at room temperature for up to 1 day.

The dreaded dentist

OK, so all last week my mouth was killing me. I was going out of town this weekend and by Friday couldn't take it anymore. So, I have a friend that works for a dentist and I went to her for some help. Made an appointment to see the doc when I got back but just needed something to take away the pain.

Well, this dentist is unfortunately, extremely nice...and he was closing when I went in but decided he would take a look at me. Needless to say, he said there was no way to save the tooth. Because I grind my teeth it had split and decayed and I didn't even know it. I didn't have any fillings on that part of my mouth and thought for sure I just needed one...nope, he said a root canal probably wouldn't save it...so, he took it out.

Keep in mind, I have had the worst experience with dentists and avoid them like the plague. When sitting there I start shaking and totally freaking out. But he did good at calming me down and reassured me that he wouldn't hurt me.

Well, after 3 shots to numb my mouth, he starts to pull it and guess what, it didn't want to come out. He ended up having to lazer it into 4 parts to get it out. He said it was like taking it out of concrete. Half way through I told him I should have opted for the root canal.

I did OK though, I was shaking for about 20 minutes after he finished but calmed down and went back to work. Saturday, I left to go out of town and didn't take any medicine for pain because I knew I had to drive. Well, by Saturday night it started getting to me. I got back home, took some meds and hit the hay...got up this morning and the pain was shooting up to my cheek bone and sinuses....so I called him, (yep, this doc gave me his personal cell to call if I had a problem) and he told me that since it was so hard to come out its just sore from all that he did.

So, I went to work for a couple hours then came home, took some meds and rested the rest of the day. I feel like my face has been run over by a mack truck! I sure hope its better by tomorrow.

Even though it was a tough thing to go through, I think I have found the dentist that I will continue to go to. He has to be the most understanding person I have ever met and he truly put me at ease better than anyone possibly could. And yes, I am going back in April for my check up, cleaning and to make sure all my other teeth are good....I think I will be fine next time. Plus, it helps that he's hot...that would put any girl at ease...LOL

This weeks events

My first week at work has been a great one! Hectic and a little overwhelming, but great! I managed to collect about $15000.00 in back rent owed and make a settlement between the old company and one of our customers...that was long overdue.

Managing individual properties is so much different than HOA's. I am so use to having the ability to authorize things to be done and you just do what is in the best interest of the association. With rentals you have to ask for permission on everything.....mainly because they don't have as much money in a slush fund as HOA's do.

Overall, its been a good week and I am hoping that a good friend of mine will be coming to work with me soon. She is doing some accounting stuff for us right now and I'm trying to talk the owner into hiring her. With the two of us, his company would rock!

My niece is coming in tonight, (Friday) we are going to drive back to VA tomorrow morning to go to a surprise birthday party my other niece is having for her daughter. I can only imagine the fun her and I will have with one another in the car for 4 hours....and then we are driving back the same day..so 8 hours couped up together...oh, what will we do??? I'm sure it will get a little crazy...I can see her flashing the truckers now!!! LOL
